Janice O’Connell is one of the top Irish Architectural Photographers and was the Irish Architectural Photographer of the Year in 2009. Janice’s fine art background and incredible eye for detail has won her over 30 gold awards at the Irish Professional Photographers Association over the past three years alone.
She is in constant demand from her clients who include the country’s top architects, developers, construction companies and engineers. She has photographed major projects throughout Ireland from the award-winning Cliffs of Moher Visitors Centre in Clare to the Elysian in Cork – Ireland’s tallest building - from the Irish Lights building in Dun Laoghaire to the Environmental Protection Agency in Kilkenny and the University of Limerick.
Her portfolio has also won her the coveted QEP award from the Federation of European Professional Photographers for Architectural Photography. Janice is regularly published in Irish Architect Magazine, held her own architectural photography exhibition in 2008 and has contributed to numerous books and publications recording modern and classic Irish Architecture. Janice O’Connell’s offices and studios are based in Cork City from where she travels nationwide and abroad on assignments.
Janice O’Connell has been photographing the arts in all forms since she started f22 Photography. She has photographed the bulk of Maud Cotter’s incredible installations, produced portraits of William Crozier, Basil Blackshaw, John Kelly as well as cataloguing their works and the works of other famous Irish contemporary artists such as Patrick Scott, Hughie O’Donoghue, Sarah Walker, Louis Le Brocquy and Angie Shanahan to name but a few.
Janice has worked for the Hunt Museum in Limerick and the Crawford Gallery in Cork producing the award-winning photographs for the former’s acclaimed A Celebration of Limerick’s Silver in 2006. In theatre she has photographed an incredible variety of stars including Ed Harris, Cillian Murphy, Orla Fitzgerald and Danny La Rue as well as producing an exhibition titled 44 Frames for the Everyman Palace.
Janice also works regularly for advertising and corporate clients including Barry’s Tea, FBD Insurance, KPMG, Keanes Jewellers, Ashville Media and multi-nationals such as Janssen, Millipore, IPT, Stryker, Pfizer, Arup and Boston Scientific.
